TQ Jefferson, Vice President of Marvel games has released information regarding their upcoming free to play super hero MMORPG, Marvel Heroes. The world of the super hero MMO game is constantly expanding. It was only a few years ago that City of Heroes was the only one on the scene, but now spandex fans have a multitude of games to choose from such as DC Universe and Champions Online.
The genre is set to expand again with the upcoming release of Marvel Heroes, the first real MMO Marvel experience since the release of the child oriented Super Hero Squad Online. Marvel Heroes will feature hundreds of characters from one of the most glorious comic book universes ever created, offering players a fully licensed experience unlike anything available at the moment.
Very little information on the game has been released but Marvel did recently give us a bit of a teaser with the first official trailer, although it didn’t really include much in terms of game play footage. TQ Jefferson has said that the game will avoid the carbon copy MMORPG type approach that previous super hero themed MMORPG games have used, instead Marvel Heroes will adopt a more isometric approach similar to that of the recently released Diablo III.
No official release date has been mentioned but we do know that Marvel Heroes will avoid a presentation at the upcoming E3 event for the more geeky favorable Comic-Con in San Diego next month.
